Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), one of the earliest institutions in western China specializing in architecture and civil engineering and today internationally recognized for its research in green building and sustainable development, celebrated its 130th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of its institutional merger with a series of events held from September 11–13, 2026.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, XAUAT hosted the Global University Presidents’ Forum on “Sustainable Development of Humanity,” organized under the Silk Road International Association of Architecture and Technology Universities (SRIAATU), an alliance initiated by XAUAT. Representatives and scholars from 27 member countries attended the forum to discuss pressing challenges in sustainable development, potential solutions, and future directions for international collaboration.
Representatives of the Graduate University of Mongolia (GUM), which established a partnership with XAUAT in 2022, were invited to participate in the anniversary celebrations, academic conference, and symposium. During the events, GUM President Dr. Ch. Zegiimaa conveyed congratulations to the XAUAT community on the significant milestone. She emphasized that research universities serve as a driving force for social development and highlighted the vital importance of international cooperation in generating new knowledge and advancing scientific research.
In addition, the GUM delegation visited several historical and cultural landmarks in Xi’an, an ancient city renowned worldwide for its Terracotta Army. The delegation, also explored several, architectural and development projects designed by Zhang Yiling, a doctoral student at XAUAT, including the Great Tang Rose Garden, the Government Palace, and the Xi’an City Library.
